Yeah so I am wanting to purchase my Live rock and Live sand through saltwaterfish.com but I am planning a 12 gallon tank and was wondering if if 20 pounds of LS and 25 pounds of LR would be to much? I dont know it sounds like alot for that size of tank to me but what do I know Im just a mixed up kid

I see no problems with it. I'll be starting a 10g nano with about 12 lbs of LR. It will be fine. Kep in mind the more LR the more water displacement. Might want to consider a little less LR and add more later if you want. But, 25lbs will be fine.

If Eclipse doesn't make a 15 gal. they make something very close. Eclipse is nice if you are trying to save some money because you get most of the hardware all together. Is this your first tank? If so, the bigger the tank the better as far as room for error. Some say not to start with a nano. But if you are like I was when I started not having the space or the extra money you may not have much of a choice. (And I'm so glad I had only a 20 to move from my apt. to my house instead of a 55 or more.

less live rock. much less. 12 gallon tank isnt much bigger than a 10. i have 11 lbs of live rock and its a lil bit of a squeeze. if you wanna get clams and plates you need enough room on the sand bed. i would start with 5-10 lbs of live rock and go up from there. this is IMO and it from experience. not to mention coral bases take up some room too. just some friendly adice. this is my tank with i think its 12 lbs of LR. its and old pic

Whoa cool tank. Anyways thanks for putting the pics up they put things in perspective for me. I guess I will be getting alot less rock than I expected cause I don't like a tank that is too full of rock and coral. I'll save money to so thats a plus.

see no more room:yes: . live rock formation is slow growing part of the tank that should be made piece by piece IMO. remember enough life rock for a basing foundation for your coral with enough hiding places for live stock. the corals and natural growth does the rest:happyfish
