I've read posts on here about dipping lr in freshwater to get rid of bristle worms..I was wondering why that doesnt affect the rock or does it,I was going to rinse a med size rock that is covered w/ sand that wont just shake off..the rock has a little hair algea on it and the sand from being stired up sticks to it and I dont think it looks to good..

it will also kill all the beneficial bacteria the rock came with. then you ll have to start over. if you have fish in the tank some will make a meal out of them...try to scrub of the sand with a clean toothbrush dedicated to tank maintenance

i would not rinse it, i like the worms, they do have a very important job to do, and there is also the fact teat you will likely kill off the bacteria and some of the other organisms that you really do want ot keep(otherwise why buy live rock, if this would be your goal)
but least of all, nothing going in my tank will ever ever
SEE CHLORINE!!!!!, i hope you meant to say DEchlorinated water, or were kidding(which rookies do not need to see here)

thanks for the input...I did not say I want to dip the lr to get rid of worms, thats the last thing I wanted to do..what I was trying to say is that I read about someone doing that to get rid of worms, and I was wondering how that could be ok w/ the lr..I didnt think it would..but if it was I was going to clean a rock (rid hair algea and sand stuck on rock)under slow dripping water, but like always I wanted to hear a few opinions, "thanx again" now I think on my next water change I will rinse it in the bucket of old water

if you want to clean it, i'd scrub it in a bucket of sw, after you do a water change you could use the water that you removed
