I currently have a proclear pro 75 sump and i have about 17-20 pounds of rubble rock in the sump. the rubble rock has a higher biological filtering capacity than bioballs, although i have heard bioballs work too. everyone in this area likes rubble better and it has worked great with me. my water has been great since i put it in there. i havent ever cleaned mine and doubt i will because all the crap that was on the rock when ya put it in will fall to the bottom of the sump where ya can suck it up. but the mechanical filtration of the water happens before it hits the rubble so i dont know if you would ever have to worry about cleaning it.
hope this helps
