LR lbs per gallon question?

Currrently I have a 60g tank. there are only 50gallons of water in it however because the 100lbs of sand 4" think and 50lbs of LR displaces about 10gallons of water.
So now I have 1lbs per gallon right? only 50g of actual water in a 60g tank with 50 lbs of LR.
I am debating this because I really don't want to add much more LR to my tank. I like the big open look as opposed to the crowded less swimming room look. At the same time I want to get the 1-1.5 lbs per gallon goal.
So do displaced gallons count too?

It really depends on the type of rock you are using, what your preferences are, and what you plan to stock the tank with. What are you going to stock it with?
