First post so please be kind.
I am new to SW so I need some advice on LR/LS. I have a 75G tank in which I was planning to start with
45-50lbs of Pre-cured Fiji Live Rock
60lbs of Hawaiian Base Rock
40-45lbs of Live Sand
50lbs of southdown or similar sand
a. Will this combination work so should I change it some?
b. If it is okay should I put the sand in then the rock or vise versa or can I put it all in at the same time.
Thanks

Welcome to the board. All of that will work just fine. You could even get more dead sand and less LS. It will seed all the same. Are you going for a deep sand bed? If so you may need some more sand. I put my sand in first and the secured the rock in the sand. Some like to put the rock down and then the sand around it. It is up to you. Again welcome to the board.

i put my sand in first (150lbs sd and 20 lbs ls) then i placed my lr next. i made sure it was secure down in the sand
150 lbs of sand will give you a 3-4 in sand bed
welcome

If you can sit the rock all the way down to the glass, and then add sand, it will give a more stable base to your rockwork. Put some base rock down first, and then stack on to that.
This also allows you to add just the right amount of sand to achieve the desired depth, as the rock will displace some sand, and bring the depth up.
