lr question

how long can you have lr in your tank before a skimmer is necessary? I have a 75g and I am purchasing 100lb lr.... Thanks for the input

You don't need a skimmer to keep live rock alive. Before I set up my tank I had it in a bucket for a day. It will be fine without a skimmer at all. A skimmer is just a perk to a tank.

skimmers are debated by people all the time. I never used one before I set up my larger tank and there is a major difference in the water and quality. but as far as to keep LR alive you doint need one. for the tank it will start to build up DOCs and will usally take anywhere between 3 to 4 weeks before there is enough to skimm properly.
