LR/reef tank question

I have had my 75gal tank for about a year and I am planning on changing into reef. I have got only about 50 Lb of LR. And I like it like this. Not very cluttered, very pretty ocean-looking arrangement. Is it enough for a reef tank with more often/larger water change? Or there is a minimum amount and I cannot do without it?
Lightning: 2 white bulbs VHO - 110 each
2 blue bulbs VHO - 72 each
and a moon light

Less rock is fine, you may not be able to have as many fish, but it still will work. Also a large protein skimmer will help, as will the water changes you are planning.
