sorry but your post is a little confusing. Is your dogface dead or the ich has been gone for 5 days now? Is this rock for a reef or fish only? You probably shouldn't of used a water hose to hose off your live rock. There's a lot of bad stuff in tap water like chlorine and copper. I would def. keep it out of your tank and fishless for at least six weeks for 2 reasons: the rock probably needs to be "re-cycled", and to kill off any parasites that may reside in your rock.

the dog face went back to lfs.alive when i left.my lfs hear suck .the guy that takes care of the tanks seams ok on water advise but poor on fish aculmation ,will not buy fish thier again. ihave a 115 fo, thats beenup for 6 months. i got the rock with craigs list deal.125 going to be a reef setup, but thats down the road.the rock has a some life left. it was covered with purpel alage.sheets! did not want to kill it all fond some sponges and misulanious stuff on it.after rinsing off.but some of the alage is comming back.it is stacked high in a smll tank with 36 watt light.but startting to have a bloom of alage so will leave in the tank to cycle. at least untill i get the alage under control . thank you

Stay away from tap water, no matter how hot. If you are ever cleaning something use Ro water, or water from your tank that you just pulled out.

I am also little confused by your post. As long as you don't put anything in your tank, don't worry the algea, not sure what type you have will die, since it won't have any phosphates to survive. Let your tank cycle. LR does not need lights, so, if you want to get rid of the algea, leave them off. As for life in your Lr, don't worry, its pretty hardy, and most will survive.

Personally, I hate to add any quick fix things into my tank. Turn off the lights, and eventually the algea will go away. Let nature do its work.
