LS AND CC SUBSTRATE

Rather than remove all of the CC from my 125 gallon marine tank, could I add enough LS to the ends of the tanks to create a sand bed area that is 4 inches thick. This should create my zero oxygen zones for nitrate reduction, correct? In combination with this, how about adding green plant live to the main tank, caulepra green plants.
This should help reduce nitrates also, naturally, right?

it wont work out in the long run, sorry. CC is lighter than sand, so it will look OK at first but sooner or later the CC will make its way to the top. it would be best advised to get rid of all the CC in the tank, IMO. rather than fight a battle with gravity.
