LS and LR

How many pounds of LS would you recommend for a 29g tank. also, would a 29g tank be too small for LR? Is it hard for a beginner to start a ank with LR?

29 gal is not too small for LR/LS - you need about 1lb per gal of LR and about 4" of LS (this createsa DSB (deep sand bed) that allows for oxygen poor areas for nitrification to occur) which makes for an excellent biofilter.
You would simply add a protien skimmer to your tank and a couple of power heads to pusht eh water around.
(add a carbon filter to one power head two days every week to keep the water pristine and that's all the filtration you need.

I ran a 29 salt water tank for a few years and then switched it over to a reef. I now have a 55 reef.
You can have ls an lr in a 29 no problem.
I used cc and lr in mine. I still have pictures of my 29 at my web page. Check em out if you like.
