Ok the two "terrorists" trained by al qaeda failed. The underwear bomber and car bomber.
The guy trained by us......Ft. Hood killer....succeeded.
So my question is....
Are our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq having an affect on how well Al Qaeda can train their followers?
Or are they down to only recruit the incompetant and retarded now?
Or are we just lucky?

I say it's a combination of dumb recruits, bad training and luck. Unfortunately, I believe they will succeed soon and I hope that I am wrong.

I think it has more to do with the Homeland Security efforts. Al Qaeda realizes that the only people they can possible get into this country, are the one's who are least likely to raise any flags. These last two were never put on the No Fly list prior to their 'attacks'. This car bomber guy came from a very well respected family in Pakistan. He lived here for several years before he went to the 'Dark Side'. Looks like the main motivation for that was financial.

He was on a watch list, because he brought 80k into the country about 10 years ago....

When Homeland security is headed by a woman who dosn't know what term best describes someone trying to set off a bomb in times square it doesn't raise the confidence level a whole lot.
