True Story: My cooworker said that her girlfriend had a 250 gal aquarium empty sitting in the basement. One day the heater repair guy came by and asked about it. She said that the kids don't want it nor does she. She said if he can hawl it away he could have it for free. Some people have all the luck.

What a lucky guy indeed. I have heard many stories of people watching local classifieds, and eventually they come across great deals on tanks people no longer want. Especially after divorces and stufff like that. Guess you just gotta be in the right place at the right time.

A customer of mine had two complete 15 gal aquariums with heaters, pump etc. that she gave me for free. :joy: Not as good a deal as a 250, though. My roommate is going to put a snake in one. :scared: :D

The local paper is the way to go. I found a 72 gallon bowfront that had been set up for two years with six 5 inch Cichlids for $400. The guy was going into the army and his mom put it in the paper with his furniture in the furniture section. I got my 125 gallon saltwater with a 8 inch blue spotted grouper for $500. This guy just had twins.

Used is the way to go.
I bought my complete 75 gallon set up from a friend of my wifes for $150.00. Also, I've got a line on a possible 55 gallon set up for next to nothing for the kids.
