Any body know how I can get rid of this macro algae in my display tank. I actually bought this for the tank cus I thought it looked good, now its a complete nusciance and I have to prune the tank nearly every 2 weeks. I think its a species of green calurpea.

I also have the same problem. Hope someone can help. I did just order a regal tang, hoping it might keep it under control. Don't know if it will help though. It is hard to get out because of how it gets into the rock.

I have the same problem. Bought a kole tang to help and although he picks at it a little I waited way to long to add him as the job was way to much.
Finally I pulled the worst of the rocks and pulled as much of it off as I could. In a weeks time I can already see it growing back.
I hope this doesn't have to become "regular maintenance". Perhaps when I get a sump I'll move these rocks down there.

Take it to your LFS and sell it to them. Most will buy it or give you store credit for it.
If you have a refugium, you could put the macro in the refugium with the lights on 24/7 and eventually the macro in the fuge will take all the nitrates from the water starving the macro in the display.

I recently read that a foxface eats just about any algae ....... is that true and could that be the solution? I'll NEVER put this algae in any future display tank again. Refugium status only!

Trainfever is right, this would really be the best solution. Besides you get all the benefit of the macro without having it invade your DT.

Foxfaces love macroalgae. I have seen one foxface scarf down a huge gob of macroalgae in less than five minutes. However, they need a large tank.
