Macro tank

I was thinking about using a 30 gallon tank to grow some macroaglae & plants to use for food down the road. Maybe keep a hardy couple of fish in the tank.
Couple of questions....
What are good food macroalgae?
It seems like it would be a good idea to have some live algae/plants to place in the tank for feeding.... is it?
Could I stick a few simple hardy fish in a tank for growing plants?
Or should I just use the refuge? I was wondering if I'd be able to grow enough down there for feeding purposes. How fast do these things grow versus how fast they might eat them?
Any thoughts?

Thank you

i'd just use the refugium. they will grow the fastest and aid in filtration. my tangs like bubble caulerpa. you could incorporate that in your feeding regimen. i wouldn't use any 1 thing as a constant food, but rather a piece of the variety.

i would agree with Mr. X and to use it in a refugium, than try to get a some other types of food you can put in there to give your fish a good variety diet.
