After 2 years I decided to pull the dsb and plenum from my 30g on Sat. The tank was heading downhill over the last few months. Hair and slime algae were taking over everything. Nitrates were around 30ppm and PO4 was becoming detectable at 0.03. More water changes and Phosphate sponges did not help. I use ony RO/DI water. My angel and six-line seem to like it better as there are many more"caves" and interesting structures for them to swim through. The tank is like a real 30 now because the DSB took up at least 5 gals of volume.
