Made up my mind

So, I am not going to get the Odyssea Metal Halide system anymore. I have decided upon Coralife T5 HO Lunar. It has all this stuff

  • 4 H.O. T5 Lamps Included 2 each 10,000K and Actinic

  • Directional Moonlight LEDs (24", 30", 36" fixtures include 2 LEDs and 48" fixture includes 4 LEDs)

  • Separate Power Cords for Daylight lamps, Actinic lamps, and Moonlight LEDs

  • Quick disconnect ballasts and cooling fan
    Adjustable mounting brackets
    Powder Coated Aluminum Housing
    Acrylic Splash Guard
Does a T5 make your electricity bill go up like a metal halide does?

I would not get a Coralife unit...Coralife just makes bad everything. Get any brand besides that one. JMO based on personal experience.
T5s do not use the elec like MHs do, nor can 2 10K bulbs put out as much light as MHs. I had MHs with two actinic bulbs so two T5 10Ks are no equal.

Coralife went out of business. I think Oceananic bought them out. I have had many Coralife brand gadgets. Two skimmers, 2 fluorescent (2 bulb and 4 bulb units) a Metal Halide and a master controller...they don't last. My MH lighting system blew out 3 ballasts before it was decided it was the bulbs that were self lighting...so the ONLY MH bulbs to ever use came from coralife. Then after a year, it developed a short so only one side could light up. One ballast always ran hot.
The master controller didn't last a year. The skimmers were a nightmare for microbubbles and not skimming. The fluorescents that I had was back when Coralife was up and running, they ran without a hitch..but anything I have purchased with that brand after they sold out is just affordable garbage.
I went with Aquaticlife...they are reasonable and work like they should.

Ok, thanks for saying that, or I would have made a mistake. I figure a t5 would be ok for my tank because it is not the deep, and I am not looking to keep an anemone or anything that requires high lighting.

I did a little bit of searching and came across this T5 HO Quad Deluxe Light Fixture w/Built-in Digital Timer- It puts out 96 Watts. I could definitly have some coral with this right?

im certain you could have some corals with that, you may have to put some up higher on your rocks to get the light they require...

Soft corals in any area and LPS up high on the rocks. I don't think 4 bulbs will do for SPS corals or anemones. I have 6 bulbs over my 90g...3 are actinic. I haven't tried any SPS yet. I want to test my water tomorrow and maybe next week order some new stuff.

It means that you get 2 10K bulbs and 2 actinic bulbs and the moonlights are 2 blue LED bulbs. Its a 4 bulb unit.
You can swap out any actinic bulb and put a 10K in that slot or the other way around....as long as it's 24w. That's why it says supports.
