mag 5 or mag 7

Curently I have a 55gal reef tank with a mag 5 drive pump. I am going to upgrade the mag 5 to a mag 7 pump. The mag 5 pumps is 310 gph at 4 feet. The mag 7 pumps is 450gph at 4 feet. The overflow box I have is rated at 600gph. The question is is the bulkhead inside of my overflow box is 1/2 in. in diameter going to be big enough for the mag 7 or if I have to am I going to have to change my overflow bulkhead hole size from 1/2in. to 3/4in.

I would say if you are trying for more flow, I would go with bigger tubes/pvc to get it more running. so you may need to do so if you can fit them in the overflow.
I went did the same thing but I didn't have an overflow box and went from 1/2 to 1" with my pump. I hope this helps?

on the mag 7. I will switch from a 1/2in female pipe thread to a 1/2 in fpt to a 3/4 adapter so I can fit a 3/4 in tube on it. On the bulkheads on my overflow. Am I good or not?
