They reduce the number of times you have to treat yourself for tennis elbow...I will never use an ordinary algae scrubber again!

It has two magnets...one magnet is attached to a rough surface, the other is smooth. Put the rough one in the water, and attract it to the glass with the smooth one on the outside. Then you just move the outside one around on the glass, and it makes the inside one move around and scrape the algae off. Pretty nifty little invention, I might say. :D

The part that goes inside the tank has a pad that cleans off the alage that grows on the glass. It is a very good thing to have. You can slide it all around and never get wet cleaning the glass:D

And may I just mention that this really, really hurts??!! All I did was carry them together, one innocuously stacked on top of the other in my hand, when all of a sudden whoooooooosh the one on top flipped over on its own power. yeooooow!

ouch.. well being a electrican i hit my fingers with the hammer all the time.. couldnt be much worse. could it be possible that they would clamp together fast and hard enough to break/crack the glass?

No I have never had that problem, sometimes they will seperate going around the corner and you can get them back together without touching the other one in the tank.It won't break the glass, might break a finger tough.....lol
j/k:D

look for the magnets that provide a place for string. Some times they to come apart , just pull on the string so you dont have to reach into the tank. I even put a fishing bobber on the other end of mine just incase the string falls in too. It has happened ;)

Get the mag float it will float to the top of the water if it comes apart. A magnent is a must in my opinion for a tank. Makes my life easy..

mag float for sure, i had those ones with strings before and they are a pain in the butt. string breaks and you loose your mag. in the rocks. what a mess trying to get it out.

Dont use them on acrylic tanks unless made for it. they will scratch your tank.
And be careful if you have DSB that you don't get sand caught under the magnet in your tank. - It will also leave scratch marks! Glass or acrylic!
