magnum 350 canister issues

I am fairley new to the salt water world and am wondering about magnum 350 cannister filter I have running. It is running the charcoal bag in the cannister right now not the paper tube that it also came with. I s this the best system to use for filtration or do you have any ideas for better. It just seems to be a pain to clean, and while we are on this subject how often should I celan the charcoal or should I be even using the charcoal at all??? please help.

kodiak: i'm using the magnum 350 also and hate it! hehe, I bought it about 2 weeks ago I also have 100#s lr and about 100# ls, also skimmer, and wet/dry... but still
I clean it about once per day, or two days and just tonight I installed valves on it for ease of opening the canister without backflush of water it's much easier to clean at least
I use charcoal and read somewhere I should change it ever 2 weeks <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />
I'm thinking about ditching the 'microfiber' filter and just using it with a sponge of some sort.

hmm i am new but this post confuses me if u have 100 lr and ls bed and a skimmer why would u need a filter maybe a shark could help me figure this one out or am i missin somthin ??/

I like to have way more filtration than I need.
