does anyone know if the magnum 250 H.O.T filter is a good saltwater filter and is it quite or not.

It's not bad, the only thing I don't like about it is that it traps all kinds of waste...which you might think would be a good thing, but you really want the waste to be broken down in the sand bed so it can be fully converted to a gas and leave the system. If you really want a hang on type filtration system, just get a HOT skimmer.
