I have a 24G nano and am new to the 'small' tank crew. Are you guys and girls maintaining your levels through water changes? What do you do to maintain these levels and how often must adjustments be made?
I have used Instant Ocean for my 150G FOWLR for two years now. I buy this salt because I get it at $29 for a big bucket. I am hoping this is okay for my 24G reef because I just filled the tank with a batch of ro/di mixed with the IO.
The salt is up to you, the way I see it is you get what you pay for. The other reef biased salts that you see advertised, that are much more expensive than IO, have higher levels of calcium and other trace elements, fwiw.

how is Oceanic Natural Sea Salt Mix? thats what im using
Thats what I use and my calcium is never an issue, Alk. is good and pH stable.
I am going to order three buckets of oceanic natural sea salt. Anyone have experience with the two part doser c-balance? It is suppose to help maintain proper relationship between calc and alk when used properly. I will have some SPS, allbeit not a whole lot, so I plan on having to dose occasionally, even with a good salt mix.
I've dosed almost everyday...
I've used my own method....
I'm doing it the way how it is suppose to be done, this doing is to follow a certain pattern...I dose calcium 2 part...I use 1 cap full of seachem's active and dose a half cup of purple up...
next day is the Magnesiuem...along with a 2 tsp mix with RO/DI water and of Dt's phyto...2tsp...
for the next day it will end off with strontium and on the seventh day it ends off with wheaton's Iodine 4 drips from my srinyge...
this happens every week till my next water change...
when I do a 20% change...
I let my reef sit for 4 days with no dosage and start from there...
you can hate my way or you can try my way...
but all I know is I'm doing things my way...
btw I have test kits although have only tested if somthing I think is bothering me...
but agian the saying goes...
"you learn from your mistakes"
