I just got a Maited pair of gold stripe maroon clownfish yesterday and It costed me $160. The female is HUGE. She is like 4-5 inches long. So I need help On a maited pair of maroon clownfish. I was thinking that when the night comes when the female lays her eggs. I will take the live rock out and put it in a breeders net for the live rock where the eggs are on. And when Hatching night comes, all the babys will be in the breeders net already so it will be easer the feed them and so my emrald crab wont eat the eggs.
Im just wondering if this is possable. If not I need more information on how to care of the maited pair so that they will lay healthy eggs, and so the eggs wont get eaten by my emrald crab.
I will post a pic of them this afternoon.

Also PM Bang Guy who has a good amount of experience. I would suggest having another tank up and running though.

I mved your post to the Clownfish Forum, I hope you don't mind.
Clownfish don't lay their eggs at night, but they only hatch at night.
The Emerald crab has no chance of harming the eggs. The Female Maroon would tear it limb from limb before that could happen.
Placing the rock the eggs are on in a net isn't such a good idea. The eggs require a lot of water agitation to oxygenate them. Usually the parents do this, in a net it's not going to happen and the eggs will die.

Also, What does it mean when my female mariin clownifish digs and make a big hole behind my rocks? She does it by moving her tail quakly and when she does it, sand goeas every where. She jsut sits there moving her tail. Now there is a big hole in the back of my tank. What does it mean when the female does that?

Maroons do this a lot. Think of it as home improvement to a Clownfish.

i highly recommend you do not put them in a DT with lots of live rock and things...if you want to breed fish you should keep them in a small tank, 15gallons would do good, no sand no rock just a clay pot that DOSENT have a hole in the bottom no anemone nothing just the paired fish and the pot, have a LARGE sump fully stocked with LR sand and plant life...and a undersized return pump...hope this helps need more detales send me a PM
P.M.- a board fish is a breeding fish...just like humans hahaha
