Makeing a Canopy

I built a canopy for my 75 gallon reef. I went to PetsMart and took measurements from the one they were selling for a 75 gal. tank, and built it myself out of 3/4 inch birch veneer. I also customized it with trim to match my stand and still saved about 35 or 40 bucks. Gotta love DIY projects! Good luck!

Here is the page I ended up using:
<a href="http://users.rcn.com/reef101/diyhood.html" target="_blank">http://users.rcn.com/reef101/diyhood.html</a>
They have a link for a DIY stand as well.
I am still shocked that a built them - it adds a whole new dimension when I look at my tank to think that I did it
I dont know how to add a pic or I would.
Give your email and I send you some if interested.

just take good measurements and go at it. i have a 55 and built mine. used 1/2" pine. primer, painted, and urethaned it. also added a fan on the side for cool air circulation. sorry, no drawings or specs, but here are a couple pics:

took me about 2 weeks, but i didn't work on it that much. i am by no means a good wood worker, but this is fairly simple a very straight forward. good luck! :)

Made mine similar to oneflysi, but i am short, so instead of mine opening onthe top, i made it open from the front...Works great for me cause now i can actually reach my water without having to stand on a ladder to get over the top of the canopy!!!
