how hard would it be to make a custom 12x12x12 cube aquarium? could i just go to lowes or hd and buy 5 sheets for 12x12 glass and use silicone glue to put the togethor?

need it to be about 12mm thick, get that, and it should be fine, BARE IN MIND that just silicone gel will not be strong enough, have brackets to hold the glass in place sturdy and just use the silicon to make it watertight.
should be pretty simple although the price it is just to be a plain 12x12x12 cube is near enough nothing, so its not much point.
although if your doing it for the thought of building your own tank then its an awesome idea

You also need to keep in mind just buying 5 pcs. of 12" x 12" glass is not going to work. You have not considered the glass thickness when it comes to meeting in the corners.
For instance if you use 1/4" glass you would need
One bottom pc at 12" x 12"
Two side pcs at 12" x 12"
Two side pcs. at 12.5" x 12.5" so that they would overlap the other two sides.
Make any sense? Don't make me draw pictures..........
