Making Saltwater

Is it ok to use reverse osmosis drinking water from the grocery store to do my water changes for my saltwater tank? My LFS sells RO/DI water for $.69/gallon and pure seawater for $1.29 but I was wondering if i could save money because the grocery store only charges $.25/gallon.

you definately can, but I wouldnt use it forever. The grocery store will be RO only, yielding nearly pure water. Its much better than tap, but RO/DI will be your best bet.
IMO, use the grocery store water to save enough money to get your own RO/DI system. LFS is a convenience, but never the best option financially.

You may want to test the TDS levels in the water from the grocery store. If the machines aren't maitained the quality may not be as good.

One of the Mods here only uses the RO water from his local grocery store. He knows that they change the filters in the unit monthly. Now if we could only get him to post a picture of his tank. How about it Thomas????!!!!!!

yeah always test it because it can start throwing bad water. because lack of maintence. some have a sticker on the last filter change if it has then its half the battle.
