Male's Belly - good or bad?

I just noticed something different about my male's belly and I don't know if I should be worried or excited. It's now got a "smooth" area on it and it looks kind of lumpy. I've had him and the female for exactly one week today and noticed the spot just an hour ago. He's also changing colors today which he hasn't really done much since his first night home. Is he sick, injured, or pregnant?

Looks like he is developing his pouch. I would PM either Cranberry or Clevelandseahorse and ask them to take a look.

I'm very relieved that it looks normal but it is totally different than the way it's looked for the past week so the change in appearance scared me. Is this something that happens to all males as they mature or does it mean the female placed eggs in there?

one of two things: either he's coming into sexual maturity and pouch is finishing its development, or (very possible here) he's flushing his pouch in an attempt to catch the eye of his lady friend. My male does this around the time he starts his courting dance with her.
