Have a buddy who says for him the presidential election is all about who Obama selects as a VP. He claims that if you look at history, every black man in the U.S. of note, who holds the public eye or a major political office has been assassinated in six months. So he says it doesn't matter if we elect Obama or not, the important thing is who he picks as his VP.

Who? name someone other than a Civil Rights figure particulary of the 1960's.. Your buddy is wrong... and his view is based on perception... We have black governors, a Secretary of State, a Supreme Court Justice, Congressmen...etc . Also note that all assassinations of political figures have been white men that were killed. Don't buy into it...
