The Inconvienient Truth ? I'm watching it now. Great video. He does know what he's talking about. Kinda makes you think about the earth and global warming more. We have 3 copies in our library collection and it has been flying off the shelves due their popularity for classroom use.

it's so boring... I fell asleep in the first 10 minutes I would have to struggle to stay awake... but I did catch that California is going to sink :scared:

I thought California was supposed to break off and fall into the ocean during the next earthquake. That was four or five earthquakes ago.

some guy told me that CA will break off and become an island, and then slowly sink.

Well, if history repeats itself none of the current land formations could be permanent. As for sinking, not to sure about that one.

Your lucky, we HAD to watch it in science like a month ago... it wasnt too bad but i wouldnt have chosen to watch it. Its worth 10 points extra credit though just to watch it.

Global warming doesn't mean it's always warm. Global warming can bring on an ice age even.
In quick summary, if enough cold, fresh water coming from the melting polar ice caps and the melting glaciers of Greenland flows into the northern Atlantic, it will shut down the Gulf Stream, which keeps Europe and northeastern North America warm. The worst-case scenario would be a full-blown return of the last ice age - in a period as short as 2 to 3 years from its onset - and the mid-case scenario would be a period like the "little ice age" of a few centuries ago that disrupted worldwide weather patterns leading to extremely harsh winters, droughts, worldwide desertification, crop failures, and wars around the world.

So can natural weather fluctuations in the Earth.

Like the day afta tommorw. I know what it is. Its the ozone going away and the polar ice caps melting. We just need to think of a new way to run cars. More efficent. Its all our fault. But you know how it works. We wont have a new "fuel" until we run out and fight over it and we get nuked...

And? My point was that Global Warming doesn't just mean it's going to be unbearably hot.

Yes, it's worth watching. First of all, 10 extra credit points to watch a movie (what's stopping you?), second of all, why not be informed so the next time you hear about global warming you'll know what you are talking about. I only assume you don't because you wouldn't be asking the question if you knew anything about global warming. It may be a bit on the boring side, but pop some popcorn and relax you'll learn a lot about something that is really important.
Also, you won't end up sounding unintelligent like this guy who thinks he can just throw something out there w/o knowing anything about it.

On that note, golbal warming is really a bad name for it. It shouldd be human induced global change. Plus, isolated events don't mean anything, the temperature that is increasing is the world temperature, not a specific town, city, state, or even country.

does the movie explain how they know for sure changes in the global weather patterns are man made and not natural occurences?
I'm neutral on Global Warming. I believe it's certainly a possibility. I also, however, have studied enough Biology to know how many changes our planet has gone through long before the first factory was created.
That's what needs to be explained.

It does go into that. It shows the natural changes inclimate over history and the changes then compared to now on a chart. you can deffinately tell where technology started to take over.
