Try the mandarin goby. They are reef safe, but need lots of live rock, and should only be added to a tank that has been set up for 6 months to a year. IMO

I would include having a fuge is a must also, you need to breed pods unless you find one that eats prepared foods, which is not likely.

Mandarines need a well establishd tank with 100+lbs of very mature live rock. As stated, a fuge is a huge plus. These guys only eat copepods. They breed in the rocks. Without enough rock there will not be enough pods. Other fish eat the pods as well, but a mandarine will ONLY eat pods. Other fish enjoy them for a snack. The fuge is a plus because it is a place for the pods to breed without the fish eating them.

yah you would def need a fuge without a manarine unless you have a spot iin ur tank that would keep away the mandarines from eating all the pods. most like need to stock your tank wit a couple hundred pods then let them multiply for a couple months and keep adding more pods/

Hello-actually he is a dragonet not a gobie so they need different foods-search this site for more info on dragonets! :happyfish

I keep mine in a 72 gallon with about 120lbs of live rock. The Mandarin needs a mature tank with lots of live rock(8 mo.+).Why does everyone mentions that you need to have a fuge. With enough live rock there will always be places pods can reproduce. My Mandarin has been in my tank for 6 yrs.+.
