they need lots of copopods. they dont take well to frozen food, and they are not aggressive at all, so even if you do get one to eat frozen foods, they usually dont get much of it.

I've heard they need a lot of LR because they like the copepods in it...

both eat pods, a mandarin can decimate what one may think is a an overpopulation in many tanks, but the scooter IME eats less and can more easily be weened to brine shrimp, you just have to make sure they get the food, it often floats, so you need to get it down to them, i use a turkey baster for ours, actually if you read my posts, i use a turkey baster for many things, but hey, it is cheap and serves many purposes

At petwarehouse.com they say brineshrimp for the scooter witch sounds kind of odd.They need live sand to graze in.
