Mandarin?

I was wondering how mature my reef needs to be in order to add a mandarin. I know they need pods to eat and my tank is about 8 months old now and doing well! Would like your opinions! Thanks!

6 months to a year is usually the recommended time frame before adding a mandarin. It is also recommended that you have at least 100lbs of live rock in order to have an adequate pod population.
Hope this helps!

I waited about a year to put mine in. At the time, I had "bugs" galore, now I am hard pressed to find any in the display. If you have a good pod population and lots of rocks then you shouldbe OK. If you have a refugium (for the bugs to breed unmolested) so much the better.
