Mantis Combatibility

Mantis Combatibility: Do any of you, who have experience with mantis', know if it will be combatable with a Spotted Hawk? Lately my hawk has become quite a nuisance in my 72g, and i wanted to move him. Does anyone think it will be fine with a small mantis?

Yes, i could do that. i doubt they will give me money for it. but oh well. you have any suggestions for combatability for a mantis though? say i get a spearer, inverts would be fine.. right? and iof i get a smasher, other fish would be fine right?

actually they would be very combatable. They would probably fight to the death, i think what you mean is "compatible", and as was stated...the mantis would do in your hawk, he would thank you for the nice meal though. If you cant get credit maybe see if you can just make a switch, that hawk for a different hawk or something like that.
P.S sorry for the sarcasm...i couldnt resist, mantis shrimp and combatable...it just sounded funny to me.

Your risking it. Just do a species only tank. That's the best I think for keeping mantis shrimp. Why take the risk?

mantis' are to be kept in a species only tank. they can crack your fingernail in half. think of that to a spotted hawk.

Well, I know most of what they can do to other animals. But since, i think, my hawk has a taste for crustacea. i thought it was kill the mantis. or maybe it would run liek hell, but i dont know ill call the LFS and ask for credit or if they can take it

Wouldn't it depend on whether your mantis is a smasher or slasher. Smashers are designed to eat crustaceons so they don't kill fish. I have heard that you can keep smashers with fish and slashers with snails and such. Just a thought.

I have a 4" G. Smithi Mantis, he is a smasher, he eats fish (damsels), shrimp, snails, crabs, and frozen food. If it is in his tank and moves, it is dinner. Smashers will kill and eat fish.
