Mantis Shrimp

A LFS was selling one... What benefit do they serve to tanks? This one was a good 3-4 inches. I have only ever heard of horror stories with mantis shrimp why on earth would anyone ever purchase one?

Mantis shrimp are only put in a tank by them selfs.

theyre pretty cool if you have it in its own tank. BAD BAD BAD for a community tank though

To put alone, in a mantis only species, well, just one, tank. Some find their aggressiveness entertaining, feeding live crabs/shrimps. Sort of a SW pirahna. Search youtube for vids, 'mantis shrimp'

The reason people dont normally add these to their tanks and why youve only heard horror stories is just that............. with one of this in your tank youre endangering every other inhabitant in the tank thats in it with it.... sooner or later itll make a meal out of everyone else in the tank with it.. guaranteed.
