Hi!
I have heard that the "smashing" type mantis shrimp are able to crack glass. I am curious as to whether or not the "spearing" type mantis shrimp are able to as well. I am planning on getting a Lysiosquillina maculata if it helps. It is intended to go into a 30 gallon long glass. All input is appreciated!

I wouldn't worry about a smasher if your getting one the thing is that mantis rarely do smash the glass even though they can put live crabs in to keep it happy nd you should be fine

and this is where shogun steps in and learns us all a lesson on mantis shrimp aka stomatopods .
They are actually very capable of breaking glass . They strike with enough force that the water around the area of the strike actually cavitates and turns to steam from the presure of the strike . A thing glass tank is going to crack if hit repeatedly.
