I have a 29 Gallon High Saltwater Tank and I plan to go on Vacation for 7 days in June 2002. What is the best method or Best Fish feeder available?

A friend or neighbor is always best IMO.
I've tried the electric day feeders - not impressed - although the did allow some food to reach the fish.
Having someone come in every other day or so to feed and check things out always works best for me. Water top offs too.
I've never seen the solid feeders for saltwater fish, only freshwater, and again not too impressed with them either.
Good luck - call a friend - instruct them well and enjoy your vacation knowing someone is watching your tank.

If you have a friend do it, put a days food in a sandwich bag, that way he or she cannot overfeed. Or maybe those pill containers that are labeled monday- sunday.

do not get the solid "weekend" or "2-week" feeders, they will do more to pollute your tank than feed your fish. The best option, as already stated, is to aliquot out food portions for each day you are gone. If you are only going to be gone for a weekend, you could just not feed them. I finally broke down and ordered an automatic feeder called the "daily double II". It was only $24.00 and seems to work nicely. but I installed it a week before I went away to make sure it worked and that I had it adjusted to feed the correct amount of food. email me if you want to know where I got it.

I have the fishmate f14. I use it on saltwater and one on freshwater when I'm gone for more than two days. I trust my feeders as much as my neighbors ;) anyway, as long as it is at least 4" above the water, no moisture gets to it. I've used it for years, basic operation. Use it for a week or so before you leave!! Dry food only. thatpetplace.
