Marine Velvet???

Hi guys.... As some of you might of read, I recently added a beautiful Flame angel. I did not isolate him as my QT was LOADED with Nitrite, even ater a big water change. I did not want to take him and place him into a sick tank, so I placed him into my 92 gallon corner. Anyway... As you have all guessed already, yesterday afternoon I noticed very tiny white scattered dots all over the poor guy (pretty sure it is Marine Velvet ("Amylodonium??") . He was acting fine and not rubbing against anything but I got him out of there into the QT Nitrite and all. Got copper in there and he is still acting fine. Question..... What are my chances of saving this guy??? I know nothing about it. I read a bunch of stuff but still need more info. I understand it is harder to treat than Ick (True??). I am soaking my food in liquified garlic (does that help MV?) The life cycle is similar to ICK as far as stages, but what am I looking at with time. I heard that Flames are prone to this disease.... Any info would be great.

I would agree if he is acting healthy and eating well he has a good chance now that he is being treated. Velvet definately kills faster then ich but the life span usually is shorter. I would do daily small water changes in your qt tank and closely monitor the copper levels, angels can be sensitive to copper. As trey mentioned now the problem is your main tank. Velvet will kill quickly. Is there anything in your main tamnk now? If so you will have to pull the rest of the fish and leave the tank without a host for at least two weeks.
