Maroon Algae????/

I have this stuff growing on one of my ph's and the blck overflow box and on the back wall that is Maroon in color.. now whats weird is that on the power head its fluffy and then on the glass its smooth. Its not brown and its not pink. Its maroon. Any Ideas what it is??? Thanks

is it hard(like you have to scape it off) or can you wipe it off. Do a search for cyano bacteria and look at the pics to make sure thats not what it is

I only found a select few pics of that and it doesnt seem to be that. I dunno. On the glass its hard but on the powerhead it is like cotton. Its redish brown (Maroon) any other I deas I would take a pic but I dont have a cam that will. Maybe someone can post some pics of any alage they may think it is. Thanks

yea kinda looks like that but a little more maroon then purple.... is that the same thing?
