I got a gold striped maroon and a condi and they are happy together but supposedly this is rare I guess. My suggestion is just to get a wild caught clown for better odds at the hosting situation.
If you read the sticky at the top of this page, it will tell you all the types of anemones and which clownfish are naturally symbiotic with them. A BTA is a good choice for a maroon clown, if your tank is mature enough and has enough light.
I have a tank raised maroon and had no trouble pairing it with a BTA.

I saw a pet store with two maroons being hosted by a carpet anemonie. I'm thinking carpets could be a possibilty.

Depends on the size of the tank and if you want a carpet to eat your other fish, and inverts.
