so i bought a goldbar maroon clown a few weeks ago at my lfs. when i bought him we was almost a birght red! so pretty. anyway, now he has completly changed colors to a very VERY dark maroon. is this normal? ive been feeding him mysis shrimp soaked in zoe and formula one. plus some pellets every now and then. im kinda bummed because i like lighter colored maroon clowns.

I inherited a few GSMC's that almost seem black, with maroon highlights. Is this normal...or is there something that I need to change?

You guys could try some of the color enhancement food products in addition to the normal foods. I don't believe the darker maroon color is any identification of illness but I have noticed my GSM clowns exihibit color changes over time with different foods.

I had one about 12 years ago-and he was always dark-very rich colored, I thought-maybe he wasnt getting all he needed to thrive in the dealers tank-stress causes fadeout in many cases.

Thanks! Being colorblind doesn't help on my end. My larger one (4 inches) is by far the darker of the 2. I've been feeding (alternating) frozen mysis, formula 2 pellets, spirolina flakes, and purple kelp...all with a liberal use of Zoe.
