Maroon Clown...

We purchased a Marroon clown to qass to our tank. The dealer warned us that because we have a condy in the tank the clown will develope a body slime. If the clown survives the slime he will be healthy and live for a long time. However, Big the Marron Clownfish ::sniffs:: didn't survive. Is there anyway to help the next clown overcome the slim, if we decide to purchase another?

I've never heard of such a thing... sounds like a reaction to the condi... developing a slime coat to protect against the condi's sting maybe??? If that's the case, I wouldn't suspect there's much you can do besides take your chances. Unless of couse you were willing to get rid of the condi for a more compatible anemone like a carpet or bubble tip.

I have not heard of that either. I have a reg maroon clown and a gold stripe maroon clown with 2 condi's and have not had any problems. They are even laying eggs next to it. It seems like you had a sick clown to begin with. I will double check in a book I have at home tonight. (The book is all about clown fish, great book by the way).
Hope this helps.
