I have just acquired a mated pair of maroon clowns. They will only swim at the top of the tank. They won't come down to the middle or bottom of the tank. I am familair with tomatos and they lived in my corals. Is this normal the these type of clowns?

I wouldn't worry about this unless you see them being stressed (rapid breathing, pale color, etc.). The maroon I had like the top of the tank too, a little too much (sniff, sniff). He used to sleep in the upper corner. I put a powerhead in that corner and found him the next day sucked onto the powerhead's intake.

My maroon sleeps in the same spot every night, top right back corner, right behind a powerhead. PH has a guard so he can't get sucked up. He has done this every night for the past year. Its his favorite spot. He rarely ever even goes to the left side of the tank. Only if I bribe him with food. Creatures of habit I guess. Lately he has been following my Flame Cardinal around a bit, he seems a little more brave when he tags along!
Don't worry too much..........MCF

my maroon sleeps on the anomie every night, its a real cool thing, i have macro algae which blooms around it, but the clown moves the algae away from the anomie.. theres a radious of free space around the anomie! very cool!!!!

My maroon always swims at the top of the tank also. His little home is under the powerfilter. He very rarely comes the bottom of the tank. I have had him for about 7 months.
