Maroons turn into Gold Maroons?

I bought a pair of maroon clowns with white stripes from my LFS under the promise that gold-stripe maroons actually start out with white stripes. Is this true? How long does it take because these guys are not changing yet.

I'm not completely sure, but i think i did hear that, although i just recently brought a small 1 1/2 inch GS clown and he already had his gold stripes at only an inch and a half

Ive heard the same rumor. I have a feeling its not TOTALLY true. I have seen maroons with 'whiter' stripes, but they had a yellow outline on the edges of the stripe, and that pair I saw turn 'gold' I have seen other maroons with white stripes not turn? so I guess the answer to your question is maybe
