They all are born male so they accept each other for now. When paired one will become female and typically grow larger than the male. Has that happened in your scenario? Not sure just yet but rest assured it will happen. You will notice once she starts to become a she, she will show dominance over him. It would be in his best interest to submit (ie. seizure like shake) in order to avoid hourly beatings. Once this is established and she accepts him they can then be considered a pair. Not mated yet though...
