at my lfs there are 2 kinds of maroons. there are maroons that are darker in color and others that are more of a orangy color and bright. i was wondering if the darker ones are male and the brighter ones are female. the brighter ones are a little bit bigger than the darker ones also. and i want to keep a pair of maroons. the maroons at my lfs are in seperate tanks. so if i bought them two and put them in together would they mate? or do they have to be in the same tank? im setting up a 55 gallon tank soon and is that enough room for them both? and i was wondering which anemone would go great with them. would a sebae anemone work? my other lfs sells them for 12.99 and they are pretty big. as for the anemone and clownfish faq on the top of this page im really confused on that.

Mine is orange at the mo. I think they just get darker when they get older.

In a clownfish pair, the female is always the bigger one, and the male is smaller. But since your LFS seperates them, most of them should be female. It might be hard to find two clowns to make a viable pair. You can try getting a big maroon, then get the smallest maroon (like 1") you can find. That way the smaller might still be juvenile/male. After they pair up and mature, they will breed as long as they like their environment.
Anemones are very hard to keep and I'd highly recommend against them for a beginner. They require stable water params and lots of light. If you don't have at least 230 watts PC lighting, even the lower light anemones are out of the question IMO. Sebaes should have at least some MH.
