I just installed a maxi jet 1200 on my cpr bakpak 2r. I ordered the venturi kit and placed it on the maxi jet. YOu talking about some bubbles that thing puts out alot more bubbles than the rio ever thought about now I dont have to worry about the rio not starting up and i have a backup pump. My rio always worked fine, but I ordered the maxi jet 1200 and it was too much on my little tank so I decided I would order the venturi kit to put it on my skimmer. It is working great. Greater effeciency.

A LFS that I deal with makes there own (they have an acrylic shop) type of backpack skimmer and they seel them with the maxijet 1200 instead of the RIO.

Can you tell me how you managed to get the maxi-jet to fit onto the bak pak??? I have tried this on several occasions and it never seemed to work for me...I even put a rio 800 on it and the skimmer didn't seem to work as well as it did with the 600...
I am just using the 600 and I control the air flow going into it in order to produce more bubbles...
i wish i could get a maxi-jet on it...I am considering simply selling the bak bak and getting a remora pro...

Does it have to be a maxi 1200? Or will a 900 work? The 900 matches more closely the g.p.h. of the rio, and in my tank that is kinda important becuase i already have too much current.

It has to be a 1200 because the venturi kit for the maxi jet is not as efficient as the on made with the rio, therefore, with the higher gph and less efficient venturi you have about the same efficiency just a much better pump. On my maxi jet it fit perfect I didnt have the mouth thing on it just the bottom plastic piece just fir perfect make sure all the rio pump comes out.... Read more about this on the cpr website...

Where on the page? I looked but could not find it . . . so it has to be the 1200 huh? I wonder what the adjusted gph is.

YOu click on the powerheads on the side then click maxijet powerheads and all the sizes are there on the screen and scroll down near the bottom and there is the venturi kit....
