Maxi Jets won't stick!!

Ok this is crazy but it is driving us nuts - our maxi jets in our 75 gallon reef keep falling off the wall of the aquarium. We use those little suction cups to keep them attached - and try to clean off the area before attaching them but they fall off and start spraying havoc in our tank. Any ideas for better sticking??

Use a mag float, glue the powerhead to the part that goes inside the tank. There are also magnet mounts designed for powerheads.
Hope this helps...

I have never used the suction cup things, way to many problems can happen. Just use the plastic hook that will hold it to the back of the tank. I have heard of the mag float trick and many have been happy with it, but I have never used it.

I've found it helps if mounting vertically to have the suction-cup bracket placed so that two cups are on the top (IIRC, the instructions have one cup on the top). The cup(s) on the top will have the most stress, so having two instead of one alleviates some of that, I've had one hanging on for at least a month.
I also have a MJ1200 mounted sideways, it's also hanging in there.

after a year of putting them back up every week I epoxied mag flots to them.LOVE IT. Pricey but worth it.

Had a MJ 900 in the sand one time and that was enough... I went with the mounts made for the application.

i just secure the wire somewhere behind the tank with Duct tape so it has no slack to slip down the glass

I just jammed mine in the rock work and on the suction cups when I had to...never had a problem though...I hope I dont..that would suck...

My mj900's are at each top corner. I use the long hook hangers and cut a notch into the top rim of the tank so they sit right in place. I have one down behind the lr goin into a spraybar to blow out detritus from under the lr. It is on the suction cups but I attached the sc to the glass with aquarium sealant from wal-mart. It never moves. Incidently, I attached a hose to the inlet and extended out from behind the lr so I could clean the intake. I am clever.

I use the suction cups with the 2 at the top and one at the bottom. I just clean the suction cups every week or so and I have never had any problems. But I also put them deep enough where if they do fall they won't squirt all over the place.
