May be stupid question but.... Why do Corals need lots of flow?

Because they can not move around... they rely on water flow to bring them what they need to live.

well cirten corals need alot of flow so they simply dont desinitegrate, on the other hand, some corals need low flo because they will be knocked up and killed

I don't see why they would disentegrate though. Also don't corals attach (SP) to a piece of rock so it's more likely the rock will blow. Also i have heard that usually the more flow the better..... but i didn'tknow why.

On sps, Thinks of it as if all their major organs are on the outside of thieir body, and the water is the life blood, hth

Different corals have different needs. Corals such as mushrooms coming from calmer waters cannot survive in the harsh conditions which SPS corals need to survive, it's just what they have grown to need in the wild--hence while SPS have very small pollups and LPS are have larger pollups. You'll also find different corals in different depths of water too.

They can also become covered in dust if there isn't enough flow to blow it off of them.
