Mechanical Filtration?

What do you guys out there like to use for mechanical filtration apart from a protein skimmer? I just switched out my CC for 60 lbs. of live sand, in a 40G breader, and will be using about 50 lbs. of LR. I'm going to buy a Aqua C Remora next week but was wondering what you all thought i should use for mechanical filtration, or even if i need it. Wanting to do about 5 fish, a snowflake eal, some inverts and eventually a few hardy corals. Thanks a ton for any info.

Hang on filters do great. Something like an Emperor or Whisper brand. They are suppose to do chemical, mechanical, and biological all at once.

I like the Magnium 350 for filteration can run your carbon or the polishing filter to clean water up if needed on occations very nice fliter for the money. Missy

We got a Remora Pro for our 50 gallon and I e-mailed Auqua C and asked about an additional mechanical filter and Jason Kim, the head honcho there, recommended one. This is because the skimmer takes care of dissolved organics but not the particulates, detritus, etc. I went with a Fluval 304 and pretty happy so far.
