Melafix Friend or foe of saltwater ?

Has anyone else out there ever used Melafix in a salt water tank ? I have used it with great success but others with whom I work with (I part time at a local pet shop) say i am nuts for putting it into my tank. The fish are fine now and i have used Melafix on my freshwater tank, and worked great. Just curious if i am nuts or if anyone else has had good luck with it.

My experience with Melafix:
Melafix great for treating popeye fast. (now I use frequent saltwater changes to treat popeye)
Melafix does not cure ich at all. (now I use hypo if ich strikes again)
Hate the menthol-tea smell. It's hard to remove the smell. I'll never use melafix again because of the smell
