Melafix=Super Foam in Super Skimmer

Hi All, This is my first post. I started my first tank in December. A few weeks ago I added my coral beauty and after the first week I noticed he had a lifted scale which became a sore. I treated the tank with API Melafix-marine for 7 days as directed. Coral beauty healed up nicely! So I did the 25% water change as directed and turned on the Protein skimmer, Tons and tons of bubbles. So I turned off the skimmer again. Has anyone had experience with using the melafix? If so how long did it take for the foaming to subsied in the skimmer?
Should I just let the skimmer run and empty the cup every few hours or should I do More water changes?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
here's the skinny on my tank:
55 Gallon
Emperor 400 filter
Coralife Super skimmer 65
250 watt jaeger heater
48" 50/50 Light
60 lbs live aragonite sand
40-lbs live rock
Live Stock: sharpnosed puffer, Coral beauty, Gold-head goby, 4 chromis, 1 three-stripe damsel, 4 nassarus snails

Welcome to the boards!!! What you are describing is what usually happens with melafix, and many other products. They cause the skimmer to overflow. Do another water change and run some carbon in the filter. The skimmer will have to be watched until all of the melafix is removed. In the future, treat fish in a quarantine tank. Many medications are not safe for the display. The melafix will not harm your tank inhabitants though, so do not worry about what has already been done.

Thanks for the welcome!
Yeah I went to the LFS and discussed my problem with them and they were suprisingly very helpful and told me it was a safe product to use. My coral beauty likes to hang out near all the caves I designed in my rockwork so I think it would have been hard to catch him.
I will definitely do a qt from now on especially since it will take a few water changes to get it all out.
